Patley Bridge

We had to visit Harrogate today and afterwards we enjoyed a short walk at Patley Bridge.

We walked up the river as far as Gouthwaite Reservoir (unfortunately we did not have time to go around the reservoir on this occasion) and we came back down via the Wath road picking up a riverside footpath back into Patley Bridge.

The weather was a tad disappointing with cloud building up as we went upstream and there was quite a cool breeze.

Later, back in Patley Bridge, the sun shone and we enjoyed an ice cream sitting on a bench chatting with a born-again motor-biker from Leeds.

Patley Bridge is a lovely little village for a visit and we had an enjoyable time here today.

Warblers seem to be in short supply in Bradshaw and it was the same here today with no sightings of Whitethroat or Blackcap.

We did have the bonus of 3 Spotted Flycatcher seen along the riverbank though.
We kept an eye out for Yellow Wagtail but only managed Pied and Grey today.

(Looks like we are going to have some success with Emma's replacement wheelchair. We had a chat with a lovely lady at Howden Mobility - Keighley and they have some wheelchairs that may fit the bill- and if Emma doesn't like the colour they can powder coat some of the bits to whatever colour she wants - RED).

Birds:-

Song Thrush, Chiffchaff, Willow Warbler, Grey Wagtail, Coal Tit, Pied Wagtail, Moorhen with young, Black Headed Gull, Greylag Goose, Mallard, Kestrel, Curlew, Pheasant, 2 Green Woodpecker, Great Spotted Woodpecker, Long Tailed Tit, Blue Tit, Great Tit, Oystercatcher, 3 Buzzard, Swift, Swallow, House Martin, Tree Sparrow, 3 Spotted Flycatcher, Mistle Thrush, Cuckoo calling, Treecreeper and a few others.

Unid - possibly Dunnock (possibly not)

Today's Post

No access over the bridge so we just went about 100 yds further on and turned back

2 Greylag Geese with a small dot bottom left of UNID raptor.

Spotted flycatcher always remind me of a holiday we had in France 10 years ago.
A Spotted Fly was trying to catch one,of hundreds of White Butterflies that were flying past it, through the garden of our rented cottage.
I watched in for a good while and it never caught one Butterfly.

House Martin seemed to be eating gravel from the slate roof.

On our journey home
