Paper Shop

9:45 - 12:30.

A short walk to the paper shop (which amazingly had not blown away) morphed into a longer outing this morning.

Bradshaw Park area had 6 Greenfinch which was pleasing to see, with a few Chaffinch and Goldfinch.

I had a walk down to Holdsworth where Rooks are busy patching up their nests.

A left turn along the Calderdale Way past the small Caravan Club site and through the small woods there did not reveal much.

A walk down to Oats Royd was also remarkably quiet.
I had a stroll about and then a tough climb up to Roper Lane.
At Oats Royd, a Bullfinch called, a Blackbird left hastily and a Goldcrest was moving about like a rocket in the conifers and not a lot else.

As the wind increased the walk along Roper Lane was a bit of a struggle. There were a few small gulls hanging in the air using the wind to their advantage.

Near the Raggalds there were more small gulls about, c100 Starling and 40 or so Lapwing.

The Lapwing landed 2 fields up from the flood so I went to have a look.
Standing by the roadside looking at the flood the , wind was moving the lamp posts about and me and the bins.
The water looked bereft of birds - but I did not hang about.
Some of the lapwing were enjoying a bath in a very muddy field.

Coming home the wind was very strong until below Taylor Lane when it eased a bit.

Not a lot about for me today but it is nice to lots of fresh air and exercise.

The Sunday papers and 2 magazine supplements felt very heavy, in my rucksack, when I got home!!
