Titchwell Marsh

Thursday 10th August 2017.

We took my little sister, who is seriously ill, on  holiday to Hunstanton for a few days.

Part of the holiday was a trip to Titchwell Marsh on a beautiful warm sunny day.

On arrival we were met by  a very helpful man at the small reception hut.

He told us to go to the main reception and take a look at 'Brian's List' to see what birds have been recently seen.

Brian's list included a'Purple Sandpiper'  that had been seen on the beach.

We were lucky enough to catch up with the bird, a very early arrival by all accounts.

The bird was busy feeding and remarkably 'tame'.
Completely ignoring the people on the beach.

This is a 'lifer' for me.

Other birds:-

Avocet, 14 Spoonbill, Redshank, Buzzard, Shelduck, Grey Plover, Curlew, Marsh Harrier, Black Headed Gull, Great Black-backed Gull, Sparrowhawk, Kestrel, Pied Wagtail.
14 Common Scoter  out on the sea.
Bar-tailed Godwit. Golden Plover, Greylag Goose, Teal.
Sandwitch Tern, Spotted Flycatcher, Yellow Wagtail,
Linnet, Reed Warbler, Ruff.

The 3 hours we spent at Titchwell seemed like 10 minutes and it was 17:00 hrs before I knew it!

When I get some time I need to look at my Bird Books.
I have a small Duck that I have no idea what it is at the moment and also I believe I may have a Pintail and a Shoveler as well.
And , knowing me, a few others.
I must have some Dunlin in here somewhere ... iI'll keep looking.

Also reported on the day of our visit were a Hobby, Little Gull and Eider Duck - none of which I was lucky enough to pick out.

A Great Day Out.

I though I'd got a Pink-footed Goose here but...
This is a Greylag  Goose ... was pointed out to me by   'a man with large tackle'
