√Nothing stirring. (Raven)

Snow has brought my birding to a temporary standstill.

I did manage to get to The Fleece last night for pool/snooker, but the road was a skating rink.
The gritters did turn up - this morning.

Lots of tales of poor journeys yesterday , Sue's friend took 3 hours from Huddersfield to Holdsworth. Tracey next door took 4 hours from Keighley to Bradshaw.

After some snow shifting this morning, we had a walk to Morrison's to meet my skin and blister for lunch.
Its quite a feat, walking on the road side without getting splattered by passing motorists.

I took the camera 'just in case' but should have left it in 'it's case'!

Birds:

A sickly looking Magpie was sheltering in the field, under the hedge next to our house, this morning, not moving very much.
Not a lot I could do for it really.
I am not a Magpie fan, but I did lob it some mealworms to help it survive.
It had perished when we got back from our walk, a sad sight.

2 Fieldfare flew over the house as we left.

The small Gulls that we saw, seem to 'enjoy' the strong winds, moving effortless at speed.

The Starlings were active along Pavement Lane and a few crows were here and there.

Otherwise "nothing stirring".

  1. I though it might be a Raven.
But checking it's bill 'bristle' against my bird books,
I decided (wrongly) that it was a carrion crow.
It was near houses on Heath Moor Park Road - another reason for me thinking Carrion Crow!
    Many thanks for the comment.
