A
'passing' visit to this massive RSPB site – you need a full day
here just to start looking!
In
our short visit we went to the East hide where the water levels are
low and the birds distant.
Some
rare Sandpiper sp. Here with Dunlin, Teal, Avocet, Snipe, Ringed
Plover, Buzzard and a whole lot more.
It
was fortunate for me that a couple of different Sandpipers that came
into my bins were also taken in by an RSPB guide who was present in
the hide with a good birding scope.
Green
Sandpiper, a definite Curlew Sandpiper and possibly 2 Wood Sandpipers
seemed to be the outcome of some lengthy discussions between 8 or so
birders.
Curlew
and Wood Sandpiper are lifers for me, however, my photos don't leave
me any better off really, regarding ID because of the distance.
Hopefully
I'll get some better photos elsewhere, later in the holidays.
