10:25 - 12:45
With snow on the local fields I decided to take a look at Coach Road - Lightcliffe.
A Pr. Heron flew over as I drove up Bradshaw Lane.
A solitary Redwing was in the trees at the top of the track.
2 Great Spotted Woodpeckers flew, calling and chasing each other towards the Church.
(Maybe to sort a date for the wedding next month).
Then a chance meeting with Dave F. made for some very pleasant company for an hour or so.
3 further Great Spotted Woodpecker flew over.
Nuthatch were calling with at least 4 seen.
Cormorant ,Treecreeper and a Green Woodpecker (probably a Female) were also seen.
Also about 3 Goldcrest.
On the return leg a Jay hiding nuts in a tree, c10 Redwing, 2 Mistle Thrush and a fly past of c12 Fieldfare.
Coley & Priestley Green.
13:00 - 14:45
A walk down the track to the Norwood Green road and right through Priestly Green with a left down the bridleway towards the A58 and back.
3 Mistle Thrush, House Sparrow, 12 Redwing, Treecreeper.
Possible Stock Dove.
A Great Spotted Woodpecker called then a Pr. GSW flew off from nearby.
Lots of circling Gulls with one calling loudly.
Beyond my capabilities to Id them I'm afraid.
I did take a video, for the call , but the Gulls moved overhead making it awkward to keep the camera on the gulls with bending me neck bone in half.
The traffic didn't help either.
A distant Sparrowhawk was soaring in the gloom.
I tried to video the Sparrowhawk but it proved difficult in the gloom with bushes getting in on the scene.
A pr. Buzzard were seen on the return leg.
A good outing and some very enjoyable chat.
