Isle of Wight Holiday July 2017 No 6

16th July 2017

UNID Day.

A bus to Ventnor today and another long walk to Shanklin and then on again to Sandown.

A tough day with great  scorching weather again.

I picked out, what looked like a Juv. Peregrine Falcon.
It was sat under the cliff edge and was nearly invisible against the brown / cream cliff backgroud.

After snapping picture after picture, gradually getting closer as we walked the cliff path, the bird turned sideways and revealed itslef as a Juv. Kestrel!

A dead weasel, I think, was by the campsite gate and a Seal was seen near Ventnor.

Swallow, Little Egret, Cormorant, Pied Wagtail, Oystercatcher, Lots of Sand Martin, House Martin, cracking Little Grebe.

A bit on the blowy side today

Approaching Shanklin on the cliffs

Very hot today

Afraid I cannot put a name to this bird.
