Whitby - Robin Hood's Bay Monday 08/10/18

After strong gales during the night, we had a bus ride to Robin Hood's Bay and a walk back to Whitby this afternoon.

The coast path would have been our first option but we opted for the cider track, with the strong winds about.

We went down the steep slope to look at the harbour before climbing back up and heading off along the track.

I could see distant Ducks as I arrived at the harbour,
I ventured out onto the rocks, as far as I dared (which wasn't far) but I was still a long way off the birds.

c120 Teal were here, with perhaps a few Wigeon?
A vey pale Wader stands out as well, but I cannot ID it from the photo.
A few Godwit and Redshank and a Curlew were here also.

I found walking the Cinder Track tough going today (I'm getting old).

Tree Sparrow and Sparrowhawk were seen along the track.

Much later, on our way home from Whitby, the House Martin were still feeding their young.
They were searching for food high, in the strong winds, a tough challenge I would suspect.

Wader?? on the left

The sign's a bit wonky - like me at this point.
