Sue dropped me at Ogden this morning on her way to "er air do".
A windy outing, espicially at the Giant Tooth, where I slogged up to to, to be greeted with no birds at all.
The best part of the outing was the coffee and KitKat in the café there.
I did the usual circuit of the water then home via Crabtree Hall Farm.
Nothing new on the horizon today.
This afternoon we had a visit to make to Greetland and I took the opportunity to visit Ringstone Reservoir.
Pretty windy here as well , and the large contingent of Lapwing in the north? field took to the air as we parked the car by the houses, remaining there for ages.
I did not see what, if anything, spooked them.
The large Lapwing flock were accompanied by many Gulls and a good number of both Starling and Fieldfare in the same field.
There looked to be 3 or 4 Golden Plover maybe in the mix.
A Kestrel was hunting nearby and Sue eyeballed a Buzzard from where she waited for me in the car.
I took lots of photos but the birds were probably too far away to pick owt special out.
During a low point of today's Ogden birding, my mind wandered off somewhere, and a bit of humour? seemed to take shape in there.
Here it is.
Johnny moved from Yorkshire to a very, very posh school in London.
During an English lesson the very posh teacher said:-
"Johnny can you give me an interesting sentence using the word fart?"
Johnny: "No Problem Miss".
"My dad goes to the pub, drinks Guinness, and this makes him fart, Miss" .
Posh Miss: "No, no, no Johnny - you misunderstand.
I said F a rrrr T as in obese, overweight, chubby".
"Get It Johnny?".
"Lets try again Johnny, this time try the word terrace in an interesting sentence - this should be easier".
Johnny: "ok miss".
"My dad bought me a puppy for Christmas and all it does is Tear Arse around the house"
"Get It Miss?".
There seems to be some men outside my house with a strange jacket thingy with long straps hanging off the sides.
Riddle:
Which letter would be useful to a deaf woman?
Answer Below the photos.
Birds:
Ogden:
1 Canada Goose.
c10 Common and c20 Black Headed Gulls at one point.
c50 Mallard.
Blue, Great and Long Tailed Tit.
Wren, 4 Blackbird.
5 Treecreeper dotted about the walk, were nice to see.
The Female Goosander was here, not seen it in a while.
Bradshaw.
2 Stock Dove.
c20 Common Gull.
c40 Jackdaw.
1 Herring Gull.
Ringstone:
Buzzard.
Kestrel.
Lapwing.
95 Fieldfare (counted from a slowed down video - probably more over the hill!).
Starling.
Examining the photos 3 or 4 birds are perhaps a lighter brown shade and maybe Golden Plover - but I don't think I'll add them to my yearly list!!
Many, many Gulls.
I'll hopefully find something decent in the photos when I get a proper look at them.
.
Heck of a lot of Lapwings there John - nice one.
