Elland to Brookfoot Avocet Works

Some frost on the car windscreen this morning soon disappeared.

The usual outing on a very blowy dry day saw me walking from Elland along the river and canal to Brookfoot Avocet works.

The river was very fast flowing with very little seen on it.

The ski-lake had the usual good numbers of Gulls but other birds on it , were hard to come by.

A completely different birds experience from my last visit.

Anyway, the exercise was very good for the soul!

The weather here at tea time is pretty grotty with gale force winds and heavy rain.

Birds:-

5 Mute Swan.

One very aggressive Swan chasing away the Canada Geese.

25 Canada Geese.

18 (10, 8) Long Tailed Tit.

Mallard.

4 Bullfinch.

Nuthatch (h).

Great Spotted Woodpecker (h).

A Male  Goldeneye flashed past low over the water as I was on the humpty backed steel bridge.

4 Lesser Black-backed Gulls. (Unless one of 'em is a Big 'un).

Herring Gull.

Common Gull.

Black Headed Gull.

A 'good few' Coots.

What looked like a F. Goosander was on the lake way to my right as I squinted between railings and tree branches trying for a photo and failing miserably.

2 Heron.

5 Cormorant.

4 Moorhen (on the river).

Not much else!! (I did not linger by the feeders , probably should have done).

Snowdrops seen in Halifax.

Riddle:
