The usual hike today:- Bradshaw-SH-Ogden circular.
After yesterday’s long hike I was a tad achy today.
Bradshaw to SH was much as usual.
5
Mins on SH:
Six skylark were singing and larking about. Also the near
resident Kestrel made a bow. There seemed to be an unusual abundance of crows
up there today.
SH
to Ogden:
Robin: Woodpigeon 9: Chaffinch.
Approaching the pine plantation after the ‘activity’
field 12 L.T.T. flew into the pines.
Ogden
Circuit:
Magpie: Woodpigeon: Usual
Blue/Great Tit. Canada Goose 8: Usual Gulls and Mallards on the pond. L.T.T 4:
A song thrush was heartily singing at the back of the top car park. Dunnock 2:
Male Goldeneye on the water.
While I was attempting a
snap of one of 4 non-stop Goldcrest a Firecrest joined the group. This is a lifetime
first for me and a real bonus to spot it on ‘home’ soil.
Leaving Ogden a Nuthatch was
‘singing’ near the bottom car park.
SH
on the way home:
Solitary skylark: Kestrel.
Also 2 unid. Woodpigeon
sized birds flying very fast with a ‘2 note cry’. I’d take a guess at Golden
Plover.
Hunger Hill from Bradshaw
Another stunning snap - Firecrest!
