Ogden
13:05
A dull misty start at Ogden before the sun shone
for an hour or so.
On the bridle path (Back Lane?) a Peacock had met
it’s maker – an ominous start to the day.
The water had Canada, Mallard and little else.
On the circuit Chiffchaff calling from several
locations I tracked one down eventually but failed to get a pic.
A Grey Wagtail feeding near the north inlet stream
was the highlight of a pretty standard day at Ogden.
Other birds on the circuit included Wren 2, Robin
6, Goldcrest, Wood Pigeon, Greenfinch, Goldfinch.
A Song Thrush was singing from the trees near the
flag pole and a Green Woodpecker was calling somewhere beyond the North end of the res.
SH.
On the way to Soil Hill via Coal Lane a Pied
Wagtail was on the old pottery building roof.
From the hill footpath I counted 8 Skylark. There
were plenty of Meadow Pipit, 2 Lapwing and a single Wheatear on the top also a quick rain shower.
It’s my first spring visiting SH so it was a pleasure
to get a pic. of the Wheatear.
On the way home the usual crew were about,
Blackbird, Greenfinch, Goldfinch, Chaffinch, Robin and a pr. Woodpigeon.
The Linnets usually congregate on the telephone
lines near home – but no sign yet. I also missed them on SH (see NK blog) not surprising
I’m fairly new to this malarkey.
Great Wheatear pics, shame about the Peacock
ReplyDeleteThat must be the Peacock that has been loudly calling at least for the last two Spring sessions in the area.
