Raggalds
Flood 10:20
Pr. Redshank feeding in the water. Water levels quite
good.(No sign of Wheatear or Lapwing from road during my brief visit).
Soil
Hill.
Breezy/Dull/Showers.
A quick pass over SH footpath
on the way to Ogden brought with it Skylark singing and many a Meadow Pipit
with two airborne Lapwing. Unusually (for me) a Blackbird made an appearance on
the top. 4 Mallard flew over circling SH for as long as I was there.
On Coal Lane a Linnet was on the telephone line for
a few fleeing moments.
Crossing the ‘activity’ field 8 Woodpigeon,
Lapwing and Curlew in flight.
Ogden.
On the water the usual Canada’s and Mallard.
Also present 4 F. Goosander. The Goosander were spooked by a dog and flew off south.
One of the four Goosander appeared to have more white showing on it's back that the others?
Also Chiffchaff singing and the usual small bird sp.
On the way home, via Perseverance Road, a Kestrel
was being mobbed by a crow.
This bird seemed to have more white on it's back?
That's what we wanted to see on the flood John, Redshank! Well done.
ReplyDeleteCheers Nigel - they seemed to disappear as soon as I'd got the pics.
DeleteNice one on the Redshanks John, not there tonight but will probably return.
ReplyDeleteThe Goosander with the white on its back is a 1st summer male.
Lets hope the water level does not drop. Rain during the night would be preferred.
DeleteThanks for the Goosander update.
Regards
John.
