A hike from
Bradshaw to Oxenhope to watch the tour de France this A.M.
Walking on
the Ogden to TMR bridleway I let out a “ I don’t believe it” crowds of hikers
on my patch.
We were
greeted with a sight I don’t think I’ll ever witness again , wife got her purse
out.
According to
the N.H.S. or is it the French, we rostbefs are lazy fat idle peeps not doing
enough exercise , well let me tell you,
there were two , three or maybe even four throngs out walking
a good 4 miles there and an even longer 4 miles back. I was well
impressed.
How many is
a throng?
We arrived
at Oxenhope Post Office & walked up the folk lined road, found somewhere to
park our derriere (that’s French like for ars bum ) on a wall corner.
Took a few
snaps – mostly of Jonny stripy shirt who seemed to get in the way all the time.
The caravan
came first lobbing stuff at us from their vehicles, they were being chased by the Gendarme, presumably for being litter louts.
They are rubbish
those Gendarmes they didn’t catch any of the litter louts.
Anyway the
wife managed to get two “fruit shoot” fans lobbed her way; they have “Teisseire
& Bouge avec nous!" printed on them. Which roughly translated means “Here is a piece of tat
for you to put in a drawer and allow to gather dust”
I would have posted a pic of the fan, but as I
got bugger all lobbed at me, I’m in a sulk.
Eventually
the riders turned up, they were not going as fast as I though they would be –
these northern hills had slowed ‘em up a bit.
They were
past is a jiffy & the next lot (I counted 105) were past in two jiffies.
(I didn’t count
them really).
The moors were bereft of birds, can't think why, just managed a few gulls at TMR.
We walked
back and called in the Causeway Foot Inn for a drink.
I asked Sue "are you having a nice German white wine ?" - “I'm off Hock”
she replied.
No need for language
like that, on what was a really good day
out.

Throw me a crap fan please.
Cars parked at Dog & Gun Inn.
After the event people walking over the moors well into the distance.
Home for us, is over the hill on the skyline
At least it got folk away from the tele and out on the moor, it may even catch on.
ReplyDeleteAmazing the number of people walking across the moor Bri. 100's.
