Blackpool
Our granddaughter is confined to bed with a sickness
bug so no play gym Friday / Saturday. Instead we opted to take Emma to
Blackpool - one of her favourite places. Blackpool resides near the bottom of our
favourite places to visit but Emma enjoyed the day.
We did the usual stuff with a walk on the front to
look at an angry sea, a visit to the pier to listen to some ancient organist
playing , an hour or so on the slot machines trying to become rich and failing
miserably.
Then we called at M&S cafĂ© and did a bit of shopping. It’s
amazing how the time goes by so quickly.
After calling at the Fleetwood Freeport Shopping centre I managed a 10 min stop at the Fleetwood Marsh nature reserve as dusk was approaching (an amazing place and a date for my diary for the future) for a few bird photos
before heading home.
After a stop at the Ram Inn near
Todmorden for tea, we dropped Emma off at White Windows in Sowerby Bridge
before arriving home , pooped, at 10:15pm.
The highlight of the outing was the sight of Oystercatcher in great numbers.
I attempted to take separate photos of the birds along the shore - 37 photos in all (sad or what?).
After studying my photos when I arrived home I counted 2,498 birds although I would agree with someone saying there were 2,500! No doubt this will not be an amazing statistic , because I guess when the weather turns bad in winter the numbers will rocket?
Birds:-
There are a number of distance shots where I cannot ID the sp.
(I have trouble identifying the close up ones so I am pretty hopeless on the distance ones).
Turnstone , BHG , Starling , Juv. Herring Gull, Adult Herring Gull,
2,498 Oystercatcher
Possible Curlew, Possible Redshank,
Coot, Tufted Duck.
4 Cygnets
A large white coloured wader that Sue thought might be an Egret and I was hoping could be a Spoonbill.
Dusk at Fleetwood Marsh & birds coming down to roost
