Bradshaw to Haworth and back

11:15 - 18:00

A fair old hike today with only a small camera and not much time for birding.

Pleasant early on with a cool breeze picking up later in the evening.

Birds:-

Leaving Bradshaw a Kestrel was being mobbed by 2 Jackdaws. Each time the Jackdaw got close the Kestrel made a cry not dissimilar to that of a Green Woodpecker. Coincidentally a Kestrel, in the same place 6 hours later, on the return leg of the walk, with 4 or 5 Jackdaws giving it grief.

12:50 – soon after leaving Ogden Road on the B/W over Thornton Moor 2 Raven > E towards Soil Hill.

Green Woodpecker calling.
Only 2 Red Grouse seen going but 8 counted on the return journey.
30 Lapwing landed at TMR as we passed there.
A poor count of Meadow Pipit with just 5 going and 7 coming home.

6 Swallow flying low > S with some determination.

A Holly bush with beautiful Holly berries.
Mistle Thrush.

Leeming Res. very low – the lowest we have ever seen it, held just Mallard as far as we could see from the top path.

The stream running next to Oxenhope Railway Line held 2 Heron.

2 Dipper seen in the stream.
2 Chiffchaff.
Nuthatch calling.
Mistle Thrush.
