Monday 29th Sept.
After a hectic and tiring weekend (and a bout of some serious fatigue that a blood test did not identify) a late decision to go to Ripon, for a couple of nights, had us rushing about to get stuff packed.
Tuesday 30th Sept.
We had a walk to Studley Roger deer park on a beautiful sunny day today.
A stop at the cafe for a bun and a cuppa before heading back via Studley Royal.
Birds:-
Chiffchaff singing.
50 Pheasant seen during the walk.
2 Heron, Woodpigeon, Jackdaw.
Collared Dove,c18Mallard.
3 Buzzard calling.
3 Nuthatch 'singing'
c120 Canada Goose - have yet to look at the pics. for a Barnacle.
5 Mute Swan
At least 2 Greylag Goose.
Dipper
Moorhen,Coot
Grey Wagtail, Chaffinch, A few singing Robin.
2 Pied Wagtail
and lots of Deer.
A Woodpigeon that had gone to meet its maker.
Following a cycle ride into Ripon for some lunch (a sarnie in the square) I had a walk by the rivers Laver and Skell.
A really beautiful place to be(a LSW was reported by a local birder last time I was here).
But this afternoons' birds did not get the old pulse racing:-
2 Nuthatch
20 Woodpigeon
c10 Noisy LTT
4 Pheasant
Singing Robin
Wren
Mallard
Chaffinch.
Wednesday 1st October.
Another warm dry day and a walk into Ripon via the river.
Birds:-
2 Robin, Nuthatch
Buzzard, 3 Grey Wagtail
2 Wren singing loudly
A gruesome sight of a Magpie attacking an injured Woodpigeon.
House Sparrow
12 Blackbirds all in the space of 20 yds.
Collared Dove being chased by a Blackbird
Blue / Great Tit
Pheasant
Tree Sparrow (fairly sure see photo).
and others
On the way home to Bradshaw a Red Kite nr. Ripon being mobbed by a Magpie and another Red Kite at Leathley nr, Pool Bank.
