Reservoirs


A cold, cold morning brightening up towards lunch time.
The usual check of Oxenhope area reservoirs.
Best day I’ve had for a while.

Leeshaw

Cold BRRRRRRRR
13 Greylag Goose, 2 Cormorant, Many a Pheasant, Grouse calling from the moor.
23 ‘Large LBB? Gulls > S, Mallard.

Ponden.

Cold BRR
16 Pheasant, Pied Wagtail, Chaffinch, Coal Tit, 3 Mallard, Kestrel, Muscovy Duck,
Grey Heron,Moorhen, 2 Wren 1 singing loudly.
Common Buzzard > SE 11.00 am , 2 Pied Wagtail.
Little Owl, 8 BHG, 4 Common Gull.
A solitary Lapwing, Mistle Thrush, & a Blackbird having a disagreement.

Leeming.

A tad warmer with the sun coming out.
BHG, Common Gull, LBBG?, Robin.
Mallard, Blue Tit.
Dipper very active.
Kestrel on a post enjoying a small bird for lunch.
Greenfinch, Wren.
Skein of 67 Pink Footed Goose > NNW.

Pheasant, Pied Wagtail.

  1. Some good birds there John, I Like the Little Owl in the tree & the skien of geese,Kestrels & Dipper as well a great day for you.
    Just thought I'd check about the Barnacle Geese your pictures shows Greylags?

  3. Leeshaw turned up 35 Barnacle Geese on one of our better days a couple of years ago, so its always worth a visit.

    The Greylags were new in at Leeshaw from yesterday.

  5. Danny: Just had a look back at your Barnacle Blog - a great find. I'll keep my eyes out for Barnacle up there. Didn't think they would be so numerous.
