Oxenhope Reservoirs

A dull cold day today.

Leeshaw 11:30

2 Cormorant on the water with Common and BHG.
A single Meadow Pipit and Pied Wagtail.
Grouse calling from the moor.
C50 Jackdaw and an Owl calling.

Lower Laithe

A few Mallard with Common and BHG.

Ponden 12:15

2 Moorhen, 7 Pheasant.
A few Mallard, Muscovy, Dunnock, Pied Wagtail,
C30 Jackdaw, Grey Heron, Mistle Thrush.
A Robin came and joined me for lunch again.
In the large tree , at the Ponden B&B end, Coal, Blue & Great Tit all feeding together.
Also on the water here the bird of the day M. Goldeneye.
and an unid. Female Duck.

Leeming 13:45

Quiet here today or maybe the phone call telling me my new grate cover was ready made me a bit impatient.

Mallard, Common & BHG, Wren.
22 Jackdaw, Woodpigeon.

(No sign of the Dipper today – could say I’ve dipped).

Today's Post - the final frontier



Though this was a Mallard at first - but don't think so now unless it's a hybrid.
Don't think it's a F. Goldeneye shapes all wrong?

  1. A good look round and a reward on the Goldeneye, the other being a hybrid as you say.
    Been a few reports for Goldeneye , must be on the move,.

  2. Ogden is due a Goldeneye or two.
    These Hybrid Mallards are difficult to id.
