Reservour Tour

Leeshaw 10:00

Cold, Windy Bright & Clear

2 Cormorant, with c16 BHG on the Res.
Grouse calling from moor.
A mixed flock of C150 birds – Fieldfare , Redwing  and Starling.

Upper Marsh area.

Kestrel. A large group of Jackdaw & Fieldfare feeding together.
I stopped a bit lower down, on the return from Ponden, and there were C50 Redwing here.

Lower Laithe

Just a few gulls in the air , nothing on the water.

Ponden

Grey Heron, Mallard, 2 Jay, Woodpigeon.
The trees at the Ponden B&B end of the Reservoir were very busy with bird life.
There were Blue Tit and Blackbird in good numbers and a large flock of Goldfinch & Chaffinch feeding together here.
2 Mistle Thrush, 2 Moorhen in the fields.
I got very excited when I thought I'd got a LSW in the trees with the Chaffinch but it turned out to be a GSW.
2 Robin, Kestrel.

Water disappointing with just the Mallards and a few gulls.

Leeming

Water deserted - running late by now so I did not linger here.

Raggalds Flood.

It was pleasing to see a good flock of C60 lapwing here with quite a few small gulls.
