After another hour of shifting the white stuff this
morning, listening to a Green Woodpecker calling, I had a slippery saunter around Ogden.
I came back via Cow Hill Gate Lane, Ingham Lane & Bradshaw Lane.

Ogden
10:30.
A very picturesque scene at Ogden with the snow
clinging to the Pine trees aaaaaaaaaaaaah … nice.
A quiet circuit with the usual small birds about and
just Mallard , BHG and Common Gull on the water as far as I could tell.
More people walking at Ogden than I had imagined when I left home.
A Jay was calling from the trees and a Nuthatch was
on the feeders with Great & Coal Tit also here.
The snow came again, and, as I felt a tad whacked, I
decided to call it a day.
Just a few Woodpigeon seen on the way home.
Ingham Lane:
Coming down Ingham Lane a large bird flew low
towards me before heading off and landing near the trees to the left of
Bradshaw Farms on the hillside, below Soil Hill – a Red Grouse a real surprise.
12:12
Then, as I neared Bradshaw School, a pleasant honking
sound followed by a skein of 78 Pink Footed Geese
> WSW.
A few House Sparrow seen on Bradshaw Lane and a
Mistle Thrush, a Starling and a group of Goldfinch in the trees opposite the house.
After a poor start to the day - not a bad do at all.
It's been that cold this week I've put a warm pair of socks on every day.
Had a hell of a job getting my wellies on this morning!
Another snow joke just.
Thor (Thaw) the god of thunder, riding on his filly,
"I thor he cried!"
His horse replied,"Well use you thaddle thilly"
Why are you putting those tables in my tea mother?

Roper Lane from the bedroom window
Who's been eating too many Frosties then?
North End of the water frozen at the edges
Pinkies in the far distance
A bit closer
Closer still......
I failed miserably trying to get a close up photo.
Told you that you were due for a reward John. Problem with photographing geese is if you zoom in for a close up you lose half of the skein. Glad you got em. When I got NKs message about them overhead I was in Dunnes store , Idle, typical.
ReplyDeleteIts amazing how quickly they pass - you seem to have all the time in the world and before you know it, they are heading away!
