Bolton Abbey Pavilion, Barden Bridge Circular

A beautiful stroll in warm sunshine at Bolton Abbey today, with a stop at the Strid tea rooms for lunch. Another test for Sue's foot!
It used to be free entry here , mid-week in winter, but it’s now £3 which is not bad given the beautiful surroundings.
I was on the lookout for Green or Lesser Spotted Woodpecker but I had to settle for GSW instead – no Bramblings seen either today.
The highlight of the day was a Goldcrest hopping on a moss covered wall towards me, oblivious of my presence, and passing so close my camera could not focus on it! Nearby a Heron stood very proud on a high wall in the sunshine.
(Raggalds Flood is fast loosing its contents, what water there is there, was 90% frozen by the look of it).

Birds:-

Mallard, 13 Nuthatch, Blue, Great, Coal Tit, Chaffinch, 2 Goldcrest, 1M 2F Goosander, Mandarin Duck, Mistle Thrush, 8 LTT, Blackbird, Robin, GSW, 3 Dipper, BHG, Heron, Pheasant, 4 Fieldfare, Kestrel, Jackdaw.

Fairly sure its a Kestrel disappearing mid left - cropped below

  1. Never disappointing at Bolton Abbey, birds like the Goldcrest are so much tamer there with the constant flow of public.
