We had a pleasant hour or so having a peek at Coach
Road, Lightcliffe – a new area for me – this morning. We were looking for LSW
but we were not very optimistic.
On our return (uphill) journey near the bottom of
the track 100 yds from the golf clubhouse we did spot a Nuthatch sized bird
flying from the trees far over to our right. It flew for a good distance and
disappeared over the trees to the North West(ish). It did display the characteristic
undulating flight, typical of a Woodpecker, but we did not get the bins on it
so who knows. But it did give me hope for a future visit with maybe some better
result!
Birds:-
At least 40 Redwing, 2 Nuthatch heard calling, 4
Mistle Thrush, LTT, Robin, Lots of Goldfinch, Woodpigeon, 2 Wren, Chaffinch,
Jackdaw, Jay, Starling.
Just before arriving at Lightcliffe Tea Rooms Sue
did spot a Great
Spotted Woodpecker.
In the garden before we left for Lightcliffe
Spot the Wren
