Paris Gates

11:10-13:00

After leaving the play gym and dropping down the cobble road past the Paris Gates pub on the left, I turned left through the wall and dropped down to  cross the stream via the bridge.  I went up the tarmac road and turned  right to follow the Hebble Trail path.
50 yds after passing the first exercise machine on the right I'm pretty sure I spotted a Marsh Tit in the bushes on the left here.

I have seen Marsh Tit many times, when I had a static caravan at Knaresborough they were plenty about in Birkham Woods, so I'm  fairly sure of the ID but there were Great Tit and Blue Tit about ,so there is always an element of doubt with such a rare sighting. I had a go at getting a photo but failed miserably. I will keep my eyes peeled and spend more time moseying about on my next visit and hopefully come back with a photo for the blog! It would be interesting to hear if others have had Marsh Tit in this location.

The usual small birds were singing and Woodpecker was heard drumming in 3 different locations with 2 Woodpecker being good enough to show themselves. One -  a long way off, in the very top of a thin tree, but the other was within 20 yds of me.
On the return route a Treecreeper landed on a tree within 10ft of me.

Sorry but all my measurements are in L.S.D.

No Dipper seen this week.

Birds:

Marsh Tit, 3 Grey Wagtail, Canada Goose, Goldfinch,  c10 Long Tailed Tit, 2 Treecreeper, 3 Great Spotted Woodpecker, Robin, Jackdaw, Great Tit, Blue Tit, Chaffinch, 4 Wren.

  2. Agree with you there Dave - I had the camera around my neck when I saw the bird.
It was there and gone in an instant. I got a nice shot of some branches though!
