I decided on a long hike today to Fly Flatts and
back via Ogden.
However, a chance meeting with DP & NK at Fly
Flatts provided a splendid afternoons detour and also saved some foot
slogging.
(although we did have a good walk around Luddenden Dene!).
Thanks to DP for the transport (I’ll buy you a pint
when I see you out) and to both for a good dose of “all our yesterdays” during
the afternoon.

Bradshaw.
There was nothing much of note on the way from
Bradshaw to Ogden.
Kestrel, a Skylark or 3, Meadow Pipit, Wren.
Ogden:
I did not stop long at Ogden, however there were 2
Heron and a Pr. of GCG along with a Tufted Duck.

Bridleway to Withens
I am hoping I might have bagged a Tree Pipit but no
song to base my hopes upon – see photos.

A real gem of a walk, with NK & DP on a
beautiful summer’s afternoon. Some of the paths I knew and some were new to me.
We had a quiet spell at first but then within a few
minutes things ‘got good’.
First we heard a Cuckoo calling and immediately we
spotted 2 Kestrel mobbing something – the something turned out to be a Buzzard.
The icing on the cake was a cracking spot by DP – a Redstart.
The picture is not great but it’s recognisable as a
Redstart.
A very enjoyable day out on a lovely sunny, summer’s
day.
My destination from Perseverance Road - the horizon
About the only good spot around here for Redstart, good one.
ReplyDeleteI,d say the Mipit is a Meadow.
