Ogden & a bit more from the Isle of Wight.

Ogden to Bradshaw 18:15 -20:15  (Monday evening).

Sue dropped me off at Ogden Water before trying here hand at sub-aqua Crown Green Bowling at Hill Crest Sowerby Bridge.
It was an interesting evening for both of us.

Swallow (14), BHG (20), LBBG (4), Canada Goose (8), Tufted Duck.
A Green Woodpecker was calling from the trees beyond the water’s north end, and later a second one was calling from the trees near the house at the end of the prom. before flying away over the west side pines.

2 Grey Heron were squawking nosily, arguing about who had fishing rights here, and a GCG and juv. GCG were diving. A possible Common Gull on the water, difficult to tell with the murk and distance. I had groups of LTT for company along the circuit, although I could hear them, they were not easy to see.

2 Treecreeper were climbing in a very dark area, making my photos even poorer than normal.

Leaving via Boggart Brig Café , a real surprise in the shape of a female Sparrowhawk , with newly caught prey, on the path.

Some real Yorkshire rain set in then for my 40 minute stroll home. Three groups of BHG (19), (14), (44) were in the fields by the Moorlands pub.
The only other thing spotted   - my boots as I trudged along with my head down.
Listening to Chinese Laundry Blues by George Formby now as my clothing steams!

Common Gull ?

Isle of Wight holiday continued ....

(Friday 10th July 2015)

On a beautiful sunny day we enjoyed a short walk around the RSPB reserve at Brading Marshes Bembridge
4 Little Egret and 2 Heron were roosting in the trees
Several Shoveler were on the pools here and there were 4 Little Grebe and a good supply of Coot & Moorhen.
A Cormorant was perched on a fence post and it was soon joined by a juv. by the looks of it.
Also hereabouts a Buzzard was soaring and a couple of Kestrel calling.
We spoke to a visitor here who had seen  a possible Marsh Harrier.
There was a large flock of Geese - Canada was all that I could I.D. from my distant view.

A pr. Mute Swan with 6 Cygnet were feeding on one of the pools.

In the field next to our campsite there were several Gulls, mainly Herring, BHG , LBBG and Common Gull but with at least 10 Med. Gulls in amongst and 1 GBBG.

Further along the coast from Brading Marshes a solitary Curlew, a Heron and several Herring Gulls were on the Yar estuary.

I bought some local Rat Poison to deal with a rat that I know back in Bradshaw.

We are on catch up with Granddaughter duties now - I wish I had not taken so many pictures on the I.O.W. they take a great deal of time to get sorted and posted .... ah well  I have another year before the next long break so I should have time to sort them out.

Most probably a BHG although it did not seem to be flying like one?

What is the difference between a buffalo and a bison?
You cant wash your face in a buffalo.
