We had a stroll in a different location this aft. and
a surprise find of plum and hazelnut trees.
Hazelnuts are not ready ‘till October apparently.

We parked in Apperley Lane and walked along the lane
to the canal where a right turn soon brought us to Toby’s tea rooms.
After some tasty toasty bread and a cup of tea we
retraced our steps and continued along the canal in the other direction, soon
discovering a good few plum trees.
30 minutes later we had 4 lbs of plums for Sue’s
chutney.
The temperature rose into the mid 20’s and it became
very humid so after another hour or so walk on the canal we called it a day and
retraced our steps back to the car.
The plums were the most interesting find today, the
bird life being scant.
Birds:-
Lots of Staring on the pylon,4 Moorhen, a one legged
Jackdaw, a young BHG having an argument with a Magpie, Canada Goose, Mallard,
Heron, Pr. Mute Swan with Cygnet, Kestrel and Great Spotted Woodpecker .
A large gull over, I took a pic. in the forlorn hope
that it was an Osprey!
I had contemplated a late evening jaunt to Ogden but I tinned out - good job I did looking out the window at the thunderstorms .
