Birdcage
Lane
A GSW was in the gardens this morning at Ing Royd,
and 4 or 5 Singing Robins were in the trees around Birdcage Lane area.
Salterhebble
A walk from Salterhebble along the canal towards Sowerby
Bridge and back was nearly bereft of birds with just 4 Jay seen together and
not a lot else.
We called for 5 mins on the way home to drop some
birdseed at Soil Hill and with time pressing, I had a 2 minute nosey for the Spotted
Flycatcher on Taylor Lane without any joy.
Ogden
18:00
This evening I enjoyed a stroll from Ogden over Soil
Hill to Bradshaw.
Ogden held about 100 small gulls, c6 LBBG, pr GCG
and Mallard as per usual.
When I was leaving Ogden to go through the
plantation, a very loud call came from a Green Woodpecker in tress in front of
me. The bird never materialised though. There were a few Goldfinch feeding on
the thistle heads in the sheep fields.
A Pheasant in the plantation area and A Heron passed
overhead as I trudged along Coal Lane with c30 Small gulls in the nearby
fields.
Soil
Hill 19:10
A Kestrel was hunting. c50 Starlings passed overhead
and a good few Swallow were zooming low
over Ned Hill Track.
On the north slope I flushed a small dark bird with
a longish tail. It looked to have white in it, so I guess not a Grasshopper
Warbler! Most probably a Meadow Pipit.
( Although it flew into the next bush low down and subsequently
flew into a second bush low down – no call or song).
Another Kestrel on a Telegraph Pole nearing home and
3 Mistle Thrush.
A blog that might have the same effect as ‘Horlicks’
tonight I’m afraid.
Someone is short of a Racing Pigeon
I took this snap for the cloud formations but there is a bird at the top of the trees - Crow?/
