13:45
(Monday).
The usual ramble today.
3 Stock Dove or Feral Pigeon were enjoying my Nyger
seed on the main track.
Quite a few Swift
around and about at Soil Hill top. 2 single birds then 3 together seen
in the ½ hr or so I was up there.
2 Juv. Pheasant and what looked like a F. Pheasant
left the West Path when I nearly trod on them!
A Kestrel was hunting and a couple of LBBG went towards
TMR.
3 Meadow Pipit (I think) and 3 Skylark (2 sounding
the alarm as they flew off) and a good few Swallows about on the top.
While I was on the main track just above the soil
heaps a family of 8 RLP (or Grey?) left the scene in a hurry.
Coming off the hill towards Ned Hill Track a
Whitethroat was calling , down on the right. Further on, on the left, in the
green ‘whin’ like black seeded bushes a second Whitethroat called.
Ned Hill Track held just a Wren.
15:00 (ish)
From Coal Lane to the woods at Ogden not a lot
happening.
Just a Male Pheasant in the plantation and a few
gulls about.
Ogden.
4 Goldfinch were feeding on the thistle heads.
A group of Coal tit were flitting about high in the
trees.
A very yellow bird, a imm. Willow Warbler I believe,
kept me non-plussed for 10 minutes.
The camera took a dislike to it –
concentrating on the branches in front, no matter where I tried to take a
picture from!
Ogden water held the usual brigade, 14 Canada Goose,
Pr. GCG, lots of small gulls , a few LBBG and a Cormorant sitting
in among the lot of them.
There are also a few snaps from a day out in the Harrogate
area on Sunday.
Devils Tooth from Soil Hill
Pheasant making a quick get away
