It was a makeshift weekend - with the lounge bereft of
furniture, carpet and telly, and the walls freshly plastered, we decided to take Abigail (aged 4 7/8 ) on an
adventure to Crag Vale Caravan Site.
She was really excited at the thought of “staying overnight in a caravan” and seeing mummy the
next day.
I managed a short 30 minute stroll on Friday afternoon
while Sue went to Heckmondwike to pick Abigail up.
I was impressed with the birdlife here and there
were some really interesting footpath signs to investigate in the future.
First up was a Heron, stood stock still in a field, soon
followed by a Great Spotted Woodpecker seen both going up the path and on my
return .
Then I was greeted by a calling Nuthatch ( not seen)
and a Treecreeper.
Not a bad show for a 30 min. stroll and it was nice
touch to see a Nuthatch on the nearby feeders when I got back to the site.
We spent all
day, today, cleaning and putting the lounge (temporarily) back together again.
It will be 2 weeks before we (Sue!) can start the
paint job – one good thing about being d.i.y-phobic is that Sue will not let me
near a paint roller.
I am very
good at holding the ladder steady though.
During a lull in the curtain hanging procedure this aft. I
heard a loud goose type call from afar. I legged it, double speed upstairs for
the camera, and was out the door in a breath – alas 43 Canada Geese appeared not
the Pinkies I was hoping for.
Like the Treecreeper and Great-spot shots John. Some good birding spots up there.
ReplyDeleteCracking finds and shots John, shame I missed u up on ringby lane I'd been the evening before.
