It seemed to be a day of meeting people and chatting
rather than walking and birding late this afternoon.
The promised bright spell took some getting off the bench, but it did make an appearance late into the second half.
C100 Lapwing was circling over Old Guy Road as I
came down from the top of Perseverance Road. I could not see and Goldies in amongst
the Lapwing. They seemed unsure of where to go, unless they were enjoying the
little bit of brightness tying to break through.
They seemed to come and go and
re-appeared as I rounded the first bend on Roper Lane.
Prior to that, Raggalds Flood was disappointing with
just a few Mallard.
Further along Roper Lane 3 unid’s were on a fence in
really poor light.
Possible Linnet?? or maybe Twite!!
A Kestrel was hunting far off over Roper farm.
A right turn opposite Oxford Road / Ladysmith Road
took me down to Oats Royd where 4 different sets of dog walker were seen at
intervals.
I had a good natter with 2 of the dog walkers and
the birding seem to take a back seat.
Just a Kestrel and a Heron seen here.
I managed to get home after 16:30 with still a
little bit of light in the sky.
After
spending a few hours at Calderdale Royal Hospital yesterday getting my chest
x-rayed and some red stuff taken to test, it was nice to get out and about for
an hour late this afternoon.
Some dull photo's i'm afraid.
A dodgy sky - walking up Taylor Lane
Looking over Halifax from Taylor Lane
Raggalds flood from Perseverance Road
I'm plumping for Linnet??

Just lighten up the pictures and I can see that they are Goldfinch.
ReplyDeleteI don't use photo software very often, I find it confusing, but that's a very handy tip.
Cheers Bri.
