We had an errand to run involving Skipton this morning and
afterwards we had a walk along the river Wharf from Burnsall to Linton(ish) and
back.
On the Skipton by-pass we were treated to
a fly-over of c15 Golden Plover.
We left a sunny Bradshaw and somehow
managed to fine some rain showers - they didn't last too long though.
I was hoping to get some pics of Green
Woodpecker - just after the cable suspension bridge is a favourite spot for
them, although we heard two separate Green Woodpecker calls I failed to eyeball
them.
There were 5 Goosander seen (2M 3F), A
couple of Song Thrush and a couple of Mistle Thrush were heard and seen.
Nearing the Linton water treatment works
c30 Oystercatcher was on the riverbank together with at least 5 Heron.
On the return leg there were a good few
Long Tailed Tit and a Kingfisher made the briefest of stops in a small bush on the opposite
bank. A long distance photo was all I could get before it moved on.
A Dipper was on the riverbank near the Red
Lion pub - only one Dipper seen today, which is unusual.
There were lots of Gulls in the field by Burnsall
Bridge.
Ogden 16:00 - 17:00
On the way home Sue dropped me at Ogden,
she popped down to Sainsbury's and picked me up again.
I did a Roger Bannister around the circuit
where there was not much happening.
2 Canada Geese, 2 Goldcrest, c40 Small
Gulls, Mallards.
The highlight of the circuit was that of a
Buzzard >
North.
I had a look at the Back Lane area for a few
mins before my taxi arrived.
There were a few gulls in the fields, 2
Pheasant and a calling Little Owl which stubbornly remained out of sight.
To be fair to Ogden I did
not give it as much time as usual.
