I'ts the first day of February today and the wet and windy
stuff continues with a vengeance.
I had a drive over to Ogden this morning to see if
the gales had deposited anything tasty there.
On the way home, I had a chance meeting with DJS, in
the Ogden car park, he was going to try his luck around the water.
(Hope you had better luck than I had Dave).
We stood talking about gulls as the rain pelted down
– well, what else would you do?
After my Ogden visit I drove up to Soil Hill, got
out of the car ………. got back into the car ! and came home.
Ogden was quiet yet again with 8 BHG and 2 Common
Gull on the water when I arrived.
A few more gulls came and went, as I went around the
circuit, but with the heavy rain, the camera, bins and specs were difficult to
keep dry so I did not hang about.
The Kingfisher was sitting on a large metal pipe in
the culvert area which was a nice bonus, other than that not a lot going on.
Kingfisher, 3 Wren, 1 Goldcrest, 6 Blackbird, Blue & Great
Tit and 2 Robin was all I could muster today.
Is that a Toucan?
Not quite
Nice report John. You did better than I did and of all things I 'dipped' on the Kingfisher !!
ReplyDeleteThat is not like you Dave.
ReplyDeleteI thought you might even report a Med. Gull after I'd left.
Tough day today though - enjoyed the chat.
John
Good markings on the Blackbird.
ReplyDeleteYou did better with the Kingfishers position, I keep hoping to get it at this end by the small ponds so I can get a decent photo.
I don't understand the Blackbird markings Bri.
ReplyDeleteI tried some different settings on the camera for the Kingfisher, but, yes it was a tad nearer than last time.
John
Well done with the Kingy John, I've still not seen it there yet.
ReplyDeleteThanks Dave.
ReplyDeleteThe Kingfisher is difficult to see, espicially if it's at the back near the ferns, where it blends in.
