Abigail’s Big Day

Abigail (aged 5½) sees Wainhouse Tower at King Cross, every time we go to pick her her mum at White Windows.

Abigail has been asking if she can go up  “Rain House Tower” for months and today was her big day – she even pronounced it as Wainhouse Tower today as well!

We had bought her a head torch, earlier in the week, but we were worried that the early weather forecast ,of severe gales, would mean that the outing would have to be cancelled.

Luckily (for us) the forecast storm went south and although it was cold and windy Abigail and Grandma Sue went up the tower – no probs.

Afterwards we had a visit to a very cold Shibden Park for a scooter around.

So, there was not much birding time for me today.

There was a pr. of Pied Wagtail seen from the house this morning and Wainhouse Tower looked promising for a Falcon but non seen today.

Shibden Park had the usual birds on the water but I don’t remember seeing a single Gull.

A pr. Coot are nesting on the water, one was gathering sticks whilst the other sat prettily on the nest.

A very quick look at ‘Jay House Lane’ pond, on the way back from Heckmondwike gave me my “Robin of the Day” and not a lot else.

A few pics:
