No birding for me today, however I decided to clean
out the Blue Tit Box.
I removed the nest from last year.
Last year was not a total success for my Blue Tit
family because 2 eggs remained in the nest un-hatched.
A scrub and disinfect and I fastened it back on the
house wall.
The Blue Tits have nested here for the last 3 years.
It’s a fantastic sight, seeing the little balls of
fluff take their first tentative flight.
One year, one of the young left the nest and clung
on for dear life, sideways, to my car aerial – for 20 minutes before making
it to the hedge.
Hope they nest there again for you John, I've got 3 boxes up but only 1 ever gets used though Ive seen Great Tits going in and out of one of the unused ones.
ReplyDeleteI think some of the Tit boxes have an entrance hole that is too big Dave. I bought a fancy one last year, looks like a thick tree branch, nothing used it and the frost split it in two!!
ReplyDeleteIts now in the bin.
Hope things are ok with you.
Kind regards
John
