Herons

It was another dress search today, this time at Castleford for Emma, so no time for birding.

I did notice two Heron nests – seen from Burnley Road – not sure if two nests make a Heronry or not – there could well be more nests out of sight of course.

I was half expecting to sneak up to Soil Hill late afternoon, but this  dress business isn’t to be rushed, you know , and to be honest the weather at the moment (18:00) is atrocious with strong winds and frequent snow showers so I guess I am glad I’m sat in home.

  1. Hi John - I do the returns for the BTO on heronries- was it the one near Luddenden Foot?

  2. After Luddendenfoot (towards Hebden Bridge). Large farmhouse on left.Herony is on left just before the "Bacon butty" place on right."Bacon butty" place used to sell meat.
    Hope this makes sense.

  3. Yes that's the one - thanks as I was just wondering if it's a colony we have missed and I would hate to miss one ! and I can't resist a bacon butty either !!!!!
