Oats Royd and Holdsworth area

10:00 - 12:00

I had a couple of hours this morning down Oats Royd area.
It was a lot cooler than it looked, with a breeze from the north.
A Swallow flew overhead as I left home and 2 Mistle Thrush were on the Bradshaw Park fields.
A couple more Swallow, Goldfinch and Meadow Pipit were seen on the way down to the ponds.
Oats Royd had the usual Willow Warbler and Chiffchaff singing.
A couple of Canada Geese and a couple of Mallard were on the ponds.
This pretty boring outing was improved by the sight of a pr. Buzzard soaring above me. They went off south.

Buzzard seems to have become less scarce?

The walk to Holdsworth had me thinking that I'd not seen a Bullfinch in a good while, when a M. Bullfinch flew into the copse.
A pr. Jay flew into the copse as well, and I spent a good while trying to ID a Tit sp. before getting a definite sighting of ............................... a Coal Tit!

A Greenfinch or two and Pied Wagtail were seen also.

Another birdsong had me flummoxed again here today.
The bird was with a pr. Dunnock but it looked smaller and had a very short song - not Dunnock!
I did get the shortest of video footage of the song but it's not very good at all!!
Better luck tomorrow?

Robin of the Day.
