We had a trip out to Batley to get a dress and accoutrements
for 2 weddings that are looming this year.
It was potentially a traumatic time but the day turned
out extremely satisfying and I was rewarded for my shopping skills by being
dropped off at Soil Hill on the way home.
It was very cold and windy here this evening so I
decided to make a trip lower down.
I was first greeted with a ‘black’ bird that was in
the long grass. It was kind enough to fly onto a fence post, albeit obscured by
trees, but it was a Ring Ouzel.
Scanning with the bins lower down I saw a large bird
of prey.
It flitted about, landing in the grass then landing on
a fence post than back to the grass etc.
It was quite a distance away but I believe it is a Long Eared Owl.
The pictures are a tad disappointing due to the
light and the distance de-da-de-da-de-da.
I immediately thought of the Monty Python Film “Lifer
Brian”.
Also up here in the fast fading light, 4 or 5
Lapwing, 2 Oystercatcher,
4 Meadow Pipit, 2 Pheasant, Moorhen and a solitary Skylark.
What an amazing couple of hours and a just reward
for a long stint in the fashion shops.
p.s.
Bri – the dress matches my hiking boots to a ‘T’ ……......................................…………
now I just have to find that sequined rucksack.
