Sue’s dad, Ken (95 ½ ) has wanted to ride on the ‘new’
electric trams at Blackpool for a while now. So, for an early Father’s Day
present we went to Blackpool on the train today.
The Halifax Courier has been running an offer for
cheap train tickets to Blackpool and we managed to nab 3 return rail tickets at
£10 apiece.
The weather was bleak in Halifax and Ken was very
reluctant to go but we were actually sunbathing at Cleveleys in the afternoon!
A seal was in the estuary at Fleetwood and Herring Gull chicks could be seen through the glass roof at Blackpool North railway station.
The tram tickets turned out to be great value as
well – we managed to get 3 all day tickets for just £10 for the 3 of us.
Both the train staff and the tram staff were extremely helpful , helping us get the wheelchair loaded!
I did sneak away for 45 mins or so to see some birds
and managed to see a Peregrine Falcon, a Little Egret and get some
really, really distance photos of Gulls, Cormorants and waders.
