Bradshaw to Soil Hill circular

13:15 - 15:00

It was a dark, dull, mild afternoon with just a light breeze on Soil Hill's Western flank.
A Quiet and eerie Soil Hill was almost bereft of birds.

On the way up Taylor Lane ,a Mistle Thrush passed overhead and half-a-dozen Common and half-a-dozen Black Headed, Gull were in the fields.

On Soil Hill a good walk about, in the vain hope of Snow Bunting, produced 3 Meadow Pipit.

The lower north side pond looked to have 2 Mallard on it.

The fields near the pond, were bereft of the Gull, Starling and Lapwings seen of late.

Leaving via Ned Hill Track things didn't improve, just a scary Pheasant, flushed from 2 ft and a couple of calling Wren,

I thought about looking in the bushes behind Pottery Cottage but the bridleway is a mud bath at the moment, so I gave it a miss and headed towards Perseverance Road.

C30 Meadow Pipit dropped into the reservoir field, next to the White Cottage.

We took Emma and Abigail to see the Blackpool illuminations on Friday and I spent a long, long time, in tortoise speed traffic, looking at the BIG DIPPER - you could say today was my second BIG DIPPER of the week-end.

At least I got to see c200 Pink Footed Geese overhead at Lytham St Annes.

Desperation strikes with a photo of a 'clod of earth bird'
