We enjoyed a walk with friends at Bolton Abbey today.
It was cold and bright on the east side of the river and very cold on the west side with some fields shrouded in frost throughout the walk.
The place was jam packed.
I've never seen it this busy - even in the height of summer.
It was a pleasant surprise to bump into Rod P. and his missus but we didn't have much time to chat(a great pity because we seem to have the same sense of humour)but after waiting a good while to get served, in the Strid Wood Cafe ,we wanted to get back to the car park before dark.
Birds:
Many Nuthatch and Coal Tit, Pr. Goosander, Dipper, Mistle Thrush, Heron.
3 Great Spotted Woodpecker very active chasing each other about.
Groups of Mandarin duck flying over the river and others.
A few photos.
Spot the flighty Great Spotted Woodpeckers
Robin of the day
Glad you had a nice day John, its a cracking walk around Bolton Abbey.
ReplyDeleteThanks Dave.
ReplyDeleteI was hoping the photos would reveal a lesser pecker being mobbed by a GSW!!
