Whilst on holiday the lens fell out of my specs, so Sue dropped me in Halifax Town centre on her way to her dads this morning.
After my spec were in good order, I decided to walk home.
I went down past the Parish Church, past Southowram Bank and up the very steep cobbles that lead to the main Southowram Road - the bone yard as was! (remember the smell?).
Across the road a small tarmac lane leads up to Godley Bridge.
I negotiated the newish houses at Horley Green hereabouts looking for the bridleway that leads to the Ski Slope.
I eventually found it ok.
At the ski slope I crossed Swalesmoor Road and headed up the bridleway to Ringby Top (Pule Hill).
This path emerges at the Queensbury boundary.
I crossed the road and headed down Crooked Lane, Windy Bank Lane and then up Holdsworth Road, where, above the schools I picked up my usual route from Holdsworth, past Oats Royd to Bradshaw.
Just one sharp shower encountered on Ringby Top other that that it was warm and sunny with a stiff breeze here and there.
All this guff about my route means, yep, no a lot happening, bird wise.
The route to ringby top (Hag Lane I think) brought with it the usual woodland birds and great views over Shibden and up towards Queensbury.
A Green Woodpecker flew over Ringby Bridleway as I started the climb up.
Also about up here, lots of large gulls, 6 Swallow, 4 House Martin, 6 Swift with a few Meadow Pipit and Skylark.
Lost of Corvids - Magpie, Carrion Crow, Jackdaw and Rook.
The only other highlight was that of a Little Owl.
A few pics:-
Amongst all the Fly Tipped garbage on Crooked Lane .. a Mega.
