√Leeshaw Reservoir & Swalesmoor Area

Leeshaw:

11:15 - 12:45

I had a good hour and a half at Leeshaw this morning.
It was very windy with dark clouds for a while before brightening up - the wind however persisted.

First up was a Little Owl, seen from the car, as I drove up the track.

On my last visit I spent 25 minutes looking for a Little Owl and not finding one!

The water was quiet for the most part with the Gulls now in their customary NW corner.

I took a longish walk up the track, beyond the farm and beyond the summit on the lookout for Raptors.
I didn't get to see any Raptors but the climb is well worth it with great views.

A few Curlew calling and flying to and fro - hard to accurately say how many but only 3 or 4.

The usual birds about:-

6 Oystercatcher (at least) , Lapwing, Pheasant, Linnet, Meadow Pipit, Swift, Swallow, Large flock of Starling.

Later Black Headed Gulls started to meander through (12 or so).
I checked them for Tern but they were all BHG.
A few Lesser Black-backed Gull over with others in the NW corner. These just visible from the high point above the moors.

A possible Yellow Legged Gull stands out from the rest (or so I believe)!!

c50 Canada Geese and c25 Greylags were seen.
The Greylag with the neck ring (BS) can just about be seen.

A Brown Hare was also a lovely surprise.

An enjoyable outing.

Swalesmoor.

Ringby Top (Pule Hill).

Later on, I thought I'd try for a Yellow Wagtail on Ringby Top (Pule Hill).
It was windy but warm here.
Not a lot about.
Greenfinch, 5 Linnet,Skylark, 2 Pied Wagtail, Meadow Pipit, 10+ Swift, Swallow.

The usual Large Gulls and Corvids as far as I could tell.

The walk had an unusually strong 'aroma' today.

Hag Lane.

I gave the Hag Lane circular a go as well.
A really enjoyable saunter with good views over Shibden.
The usual birds were seen with nothing out of the ordinary.

A Pipit on the Swimrite roof had me look twice at it.
A Meadow Pipit I think.

A really enjoyable day out today.

Possible Yellow Legged Gull?

Linnet I believe

The Greylag with the Neck Band is just about discernible

Now where did the little blighter go?

You just can't beat 'em - can you?
