A squally outing today, with intermittent showers with some 'dandruff' in them and a strong wind.
The wind was cold and near Gale force along Ogden Water Prom at times.
Pretty dull for a lot of the walk.
I had a walk along the Bradshaw fields to exit at the foot of Ned Hill Road, along Syke Lane, Ogden Lane and around Ogden Water.
Home was via Boggart Brigg, Peat Pitts, Cow Hill Gate, Ingham Lane and Bradshaw Lane.
Birds:
Given the strength of the wind, I did not expect a lot today.
A Little Owl was sheltering below a wall as I went along the Bradshaw Fields.
A Wren was in a wall nr. East View Farm.
3 Mistle Thrush left the fields, for trees, near the next farm buildings along.
The birds were pretty well camouflaged in the dull light.
2 Redwing were in very dark trees along Ogden Lane.
One Redwing was calling - the call similar to that of a Blackbird.
13:15 Ogden Water.
The usual Mallards, Black Headed and Common Gulls here.
The circuit had the usual Robins and Blackbirds and a nice surprise in the shape of a F. Bullfinch (my bogey bird).
18:48 - just noticed a M. Bullfinch in the photo!
On the homeward leg, c12 Redwing were airborne over Gardenus Nursery as I went past the Moorlands Pub.
A few Gulls seen in the fields, on the way home, and that was about it.
An enjoyable outing, if a tad unpleasant in the sharp showers.
Always good to get out from between the 4 walls.
I seem to be having a recurring dream that features a Firecrest hope it comes to fruition.
