A free Friday for Sue, for a change, so we walked over the moors to Haworth.
The route via Bradshaw Farms produced a Little Owl.
Lapwing and Starling flock were at the bottom of Ned Hill Lane.
13:20 Back Lane Ogden, but no sign of the Little Owl here today.
The walk over the moors had a good few Red Grouse( very pleasing to report) with 4 calling and 4 seen.
14:00 The path turns right opposite the wind turbines to head on up to Thornton Reservoir.
14:10 The watershed was reached by Thornton Reservoir.
Some great downhill walking now!
The reservoir was very full and bereft of birds.
A couple of Herring Gulls flew high overhead.
2 Hercules places flew over here.
14:40 We arrived at Leeming Reservoir.
Small Gulls and a Cormorant were seen from the distant higher field path and a Heron flew over.
15:20 Just before Oxenhope Coop, by the stream next to the road, a Kingfisher was seen on a low branch.
It moved further away as it spotted us.
A great stretch along the stream by the railway, with a steam train for company for a bit on the way to Haworth.
A very large housing project us taking place along here.
16:00 Haworth.
A PR. Dipper were in the stream as we exited onto the road and crossed the bridge by Belle Isle to grunt up the steep road to the bus stop.
A bus ride into Hebden Bridge took a while and a very enjoyable meal at Il Mulino Italian restaurant followed.
More than 10 Pied Wagtail were getting ready for their evening in the climbing plants outside, on the restaurant wall!
A couple more bus journeys got us home after 9:30 pm.
Some interesting characters on Friday evening buses.
A cracking outing.

A Gruesome find
