Bradshaw - Soil Hill this evening (Common Gull)

The usual walk up to and around Soil Hill this evening.
A warm evening with a refreshing breeze.
The usual birds hereabouts but some interesting Gulls.
20 Black Headed Gulls near the Bonnet going.
A good selection of Gulls on the return including 2 Common Gulls although the greyish legs have me confused.

Birds:-

Black Headed Gull.
Lesser Black-backed Gull.
Herring Gull
3 Stock Dove
Swifts moving, seen from Soil Hill top.
Swallow
Pr, Red Legged Partridge flushed from underfoot with 2/3 young were away in a flash!!

Poss. Whitethroat burst into song, one note then off it went!
Willow Warbler.
1 Skylark.
c10 Meadow Pipit - lively.
Loads of long grass and clover - the northside path has all but disappeared.

2 Kestrel.

2 Common Gull on the bonnet fields have me a bit perplexed - I was looking for their Yellow Legs they seem to have greyish legs and are 2 pretty for Herring Gulls.

  1. Looks like you got a nice friendly 'Kessie' there John - nice shots.
Leg colour on Common Gulls can be a bit variable between yellow/green. Nice to be getting a few back now.
    Welcome back !

  2. Cheers Dave.
The Kes was on Ned Hill Track.
I thought it was injured at first, but it seemed to be flying ok, albeit in short bursts.
First Common Gull back, is always a bit of a leg wobbler for me.
Don't matter how mant books I look at - Gulls are tough!!
