Bradshaw - Holdsworth circular (some good 'uns)

17:15 - 19:00

My Calderdale birding sp. list has been stuck at 101 for ages - but not anymore.

A busy day with Abi and Emma for most of it.
A pleasing sight of a late summer Swift over Shibden Park this morning on our way with Abi to Sowerby Bridge.

My car needed a service at B.S.'s old place and my ears needed lowering so it was a late birding session.

A walk through the very windy and boggy bottom field of Bradshaw Park paid dividends with first a Spotted Flycatcher doing summersaults feeding from a small tree.
Within a few minutes a Redstart appeared in the same tree - unbelievable  (although I've had Spotted Fly here once before).
A spring suddenly appeared in my step and a big grin with it - but there was nobody around to do some serious bragging to!

Other birds:

Herring Gulls overhead (definitely - yesterday's Common could well be a Herring).

Jay, Rook, Collared Dove and a few others completed a magical local jaunt.
