With rain and a yellow thunderstorm warning forecast I decided for the less strenuous birding site of Leeshaw this afternoon.
Here I can sit in the car and reservoir watch if the rain comes along.
Lugging your tackle around on these hot and sultry days is a pain in the ears.(Or an anagram thereof).
I don't know of a 'local to me' Calderdale reservoir where I can watch from the car.
I was hoping the rain would force something down.
The rain, however, never came, in the 2 hours or so I was here.
Birds:
Canada Goose, Greylag Goose, Raven (heard).
Pied Wagtail, Meadow Pipit, Linnet.
Willow Warbler.
1 Black Headed Gull, 5 Lesser Black-backed Gull.

c30 House Martin, feeding >SE.
I opened the front door late yesterday afternoon and there was a big Hedgehog on the doorstep!

Thanks for the Hedgehog sighting John. I keep a record so if you get some more locally please keep me posted - location and dead or alive !
