First day back after the holiday and lots to do.
I had a go at locating the Black Redstart, first seen by DJS on 2nd September.
Many reported sightings were coming through, on my telling bone, while I was on holiday.
After about an hours wait the bird showed very briefly on the lean-to roof.
After another 15 mins it popped up onto the muck spreader.
I was joined by birder Nigel Jones and soon after a second, Wakefield, birder came along.
The bird became more active with several sighting on the lower walls, lean-to, house roof and near the 'Fragile Roof' sign.
All sighting were quite distant.
Also hereabouts Wheatear, Buzzard, Raven and many, many Meadow Pipits on the walls, in the fields and in flight.
A pleasant way to while away a couple of hours on a Friday afternoon and no wind!!
p.s. There is lots of room to park on the opposite side of the road away from the farm track.
Well done John - record shots are far better than mine. I haven't got any yet !!
