Brighouse Ski Lake area and Brookfoot LNR

After a Yul Brynner hair job, courtesy of Sue, on a wet blustery morning I took the car down to Brighouse, this afternoon.
I had a walk along the canal area starting at the Avocet weir and going a bit further than the weir by the 2 adjacent bridges.
It was quite busy, with walkers,  along the canal and a couple of overcoats warmer than at home.

The weir area behind Avocet is always worth a look and today there was a Grey Wagtail present and a gang of frenzy feeding Swifts. The birds traveling tremendously low and fast above the water.

My first glimpse of the river revealed 2 Black Headed Gulls and a few Canada Geese.

The ski-lake is obscured by foliage but a pr, Tufted Duck were seen through the galvanised fencing,

A look at the lagoon area had both calling Reed Warbler and calling Reed Bunting.
Both were practising social distancing in the extreme, so no photos alas.

Blackcap were singing as I went along the path but nothing really stood out until I got to the two adjacent river bridges by the second weir.
Here many Swift, House Martin , Sand Martin and a few Swallow were tearing around feeding.
Impossible for me to say how many of each species were here, in fact, at the speed they were flying and the number of birds , it was impossible  for me to estimate the actual total number.
I did get a photo with both Sand Martin and House Martin in it which was a miracle.
I had to resort to trying to edit  video footage for the other poor photos!
An interesting experience.

Also here there were 3 Grey Wagtail.

Other than that, not a lot else -  a Lesser Black-backed Gull flew over as I headed back to the car.

Some pretty poor photos follow:-
